This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

This systematic review will be undertaken to assess the effects of mechanical traction, either alone or in combination with other treatments, on adults with mechanical neck disorders, including whiplash associated disorders. Where possible, we will also assess the influence of three factors: quality of study methodology, symptom duration, and subtypes of the disorder.
