This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The primary objective of this review is to determine the effectiveness of preconception counselling aimed at:

  • reducing adverse pregnancy outcome in both mother and child;

  • increasing the knowledge of women with epilepsy;

  • increasing intention to plan pregnancy.
