Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The objectives of this review are to assess the efficacy and safety of aprotinin, tranexamic acid and aminocaproic acid in reducing blood loss and transfusion requirements in children undergoing surgery for correction of primary idiopathic or secondary scoliosis.
Since not all antifibrinolytics are equally effective or safe we will examine each one separately. We will also separately evaluate studies that compare antifibrinolytics versus placebo and studies that compare antifibrinolytics with each other.
