This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

1. To assess the effectiveness of antivirals in:

a) improving hearing; and
b) reducing tinnitus in patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

2. To determine the adverse effects of these medications.
