  2. Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To compare the impact of routine preoperative vascular access evaluation by radiological imaging on permanent access creation and use compared with standard preoperative care. Specifically, the objective is to answer the question: "does preoperative vessel imaging have an impact on the proportion of functioning fistulas, grafts and catheters at a) haemodialysis initiation b) three months after HD initiation c) six months after HD initiation and d) one year after HD initiation".
