  2. Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The review aims to determine whether real acupuncture is more efficacious than other treatments in patients with FM. The following comparisons will be made.
1. Real acupuncture versus non-acupuncture treatment (e.g. wait list or drug therapy).
2. Real acupuncture versus placebo or sham acupuncture.
3. Real acupuncture versus standard or usual care (e.g. physiotherapy or exercise).
4. A particular style of acupuncture versus another.
