This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

Primary objective

To quantify the dose-related effects of various doses and types of partial agonist beta adrenergic receptor blockers on systolic and diastolic blood pressure versus placebo in patients with primary hypertension.

Secondary objectives

  1. To determine the effects of partial agonist beta adrenergic receptor blockers on variability of blood pressure.
  2. To determine the effects of partial agonist beta adrenergic receptor blockers on pulse pressure.
  3. To quantify the dose-related effects of partial agonist beta adrenergic receptor blockers on heart rate.
  4. To quantify the effects of partial agonist beta adrenergic receptor blockers in different doses on withdrawals due to adverse events.
