Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The primary objective of this review is to evaluate the clinical outcomes (mortality, infectious or non infectious complications, length of ICU and hospital stay) of critically ill adult patients receiving a prescribed hypocaloric enteral or parenteral NS compared with standard NS or hydration without NS. The secondary objective is to assess metabolic outcomes (carbohydrate, lipid or protein metabolic complications) of hypocaloric NS in critically ill adult patients.
