This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The objective of this review is to evaluate the effect of herbal medicine for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy when compared with placebo, no treatment, or conventional treatment. We are also interested in investigating any possible adverse events in such studies.
