Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To evaluate the efficacy of prophylactic antibiotic treatment in combination with prophylactic use of colony-stimulating factors compared to antibiotics alone with respect to overall survival, clinically documented infections, febrile neutropenia, severe infections, infection-related mortality and overall mortality in cancer patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy or haematopoetic stem cell/bone marrow transplantation.
