Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To determine the effect of early discharge compared to later discharge on resource utilization, potential adverse effects, post discharge weight gain, neurobehavioral outcomes, and parental satisfaction in physiologically stable preterm infants on full sucking oral feeds. Fully oral feeding includes infants who are bottle feeding, breast feeding or a combination of both.

Subgroup analyses are planned to determine if the potential benefits or adverse effects are affected by home support being received or not.
