This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To perform a review of the available literature to determine the optimal dosage of heparin to:

  1. prevent thrombosis and closure after angioplasty for PVD;
  2. avoid significant bleeding during peripheral vascular angioplasty.
