  2. Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

Primary objective

To quantify the dose-related effect of various doses of clonidine on systolic and diastolic blood pressure versus placebo in patients with primary hypertension.

Secondary objectives

  1. To quantify the dose-related effect of clonidine on heart rate.
  2. To determine the effect of clonidine on pulse pressure.
  3. To determine the effect of clonidine on blood pressure variability.
  4. To quantify the effect of clonidine withdrawals due to adverse effects.
