Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

We aim to assess the effects (benefits and harms) of AEDs for the primary and secondary prevention of seizures in people with neurocysticercosis.
(1) For the question of primary prevention, we aim to examine whether AEDs reduce the likelihood of seizures in patients who have neurocysticercosis but have not had a seizure.
(2) For the question of secondary prevention, we aim to examine whether AEDs reduce the likelihood of further seizures in patients who have had at least one seizure due to neurocysticercosis.
(3) As part of primary prevention studies, we also aim to examine which AED has been found to be beneficial in people with neurocysticercosis in terms of duration, dose and side effect profile.
