This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To determine the optimal local anaesthetic agent, the optimal timing, and the optimal delivery method of the local anaesthetic agent used for intra-peritoneal instillation in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
