Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To assess the effectiveness of MD rehabilitation following BoNT or other focal intramuscular treatment in improving outcomes (symptoms/impairments, activity limitation, participation restriction, carer burden and QoL) in adults and children with post-stroke spasticity.

Specific questions to be addressed by this review are as follows.

  • Does co-ordinated MD rehabilitation achieve better outcomes than the absence of such services in persons with post-stroke spasticity?

  • What type of rehabilitation programmes are effective, and in which setting?

  • Does a greater intensity (time, expertise or both) of rehabilitation lead to better outcomes?
