Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

  1. To examine existing clinical evidence on the efficacy of prophylactic anticoagulation with DTI versus vitamin K antagonists for the prevention of cerebral or systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular AF.

  2. To evaluate the existing clinical evidence regarding the risks, including any event (serious or not) of bleeding or hepatopathy associated with the analyzed drugs for the prevention of cerebral or systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular AF.

  3. To evaluate the existing clinical evidence regarding the overall mortality with prophylactic anticoagulation with DTI versus vitamin K antagonists for the prevention of cerebral or systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular AF.
