Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

We intended to provide a review on maternal immunization for respiratory illnesses. However, in this review we will only cover two types of maternal immunization during pregnancy: haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) and viral influenza. Our review will not include maternal immunization for pneumococcal disease because that topic covered in a separate Cochrane review (Chaithongwongwatthana 2006).

The objectives are as follows.

  • To assess the impact of Influenza vaccinations during pregnancy on maternal, neonatal and infant health outcomes.

  • To assess the impact of haemophilus influenza B vaccinations during pregnancy on maternal, neonatal and infant health outcomes.
