This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

We wish to examine whether supraglottic airway devices can be used as a safe and effective alternative to tracheal intubation to secure the airway during general anaesthesia in obese patients (with a BMI > 30 kg/m2).
