Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

Primary objective

  1. To determine the effects of noise reduction on growth and long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes of neonates.

Secondary objectives

  1. To evaluate the effects of noise reduction on short-term medical outcomes (BPD, IVH, PVL, ROP).

  2. To evaluate the effects of noise reduction on the sleep patterns at three months of age.

  3. To evaluate the effects of noise reduction on staff performance.

  4. To evaluate the effects of noise reduction in the NICU on parents' satisfaction with the care.
