This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To assess the benefits and harms of total hip replacement compared to conservative treatment (continued medical therapy; other therapies such as physical therapy, acupuncture etc.) or no treatment in patients with hip osteoarthritis and other non-traumatic diseases.
