Landsat continuity mission set for launch



While the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM), scheduled for launch on 11 February, is expected to continue Landsat's more than 40-year continuous record of providing Earth surface data, the future of the program beyond that mission—which will be renamed as Landsat 8 after its initial space checkout phase—is unclear, according to an official with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
