Scientists across the country will look to Capitol Hill in the coming weeks as legislators decide the future of research funding in the next fiscal year (FY 2014). Battles over the FY 2014 budget, talks on raising the debt ceiling, and continued threats of further sequestration influence funding levels for federal scientific programs such as those in NASA, the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
