Abstract

The first time that Penelope Boston went spelunking in a wild cave, it “beat the crap” out of her, she recalled. In 1993, Boston and other novice cavers had taken part in a 5-day NASA expedition to Lechuguilla Cave in New Mexico's Carlsbad Cavern National Park.
