Summary

To determine the airborne aldehydes in working areas a measured volume of ambient air is drawn with a sampling pump through silica gel cartridges impregnated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. The airborne aldehydes and ketones are transformed into the corresponding hydrazones. After desorption with acetonitrile, qualitative determination is carried out by using HPLC.
