Abstract
Denatured DNA and RNA are disordered nonnative states brought about by any of the many means of disturbing noncovalent bonds supporting their native conformations: heat, nonaqueous denaturing solvents, low or high pHs, low ionic strengths. The denaturation process is generally reversible.
