Summary

The present study deals with the analysis of the microstructural development and the resulting mechanical properties during extrusion of magnesium alloys. Two extrusion processes — indirect and hydrostatic extrusion — will be compared corresponding to the influence of the aluminium content in AZ-alloys. The discussion will focus on the dependence of the profile microstructure and resulting mechanical properties on process parameters as well as on the extrusion process itself.
