Summary

Carbide dispersed metal matrix composite (MMC) was produced successfully by the feeding the mixed solution consisted titan and carbon chlorides into liquid magnesium alloy.

It was revealed that the produced MMC had the magnesium alloy matrix with the compositions of 7,5% Al, 0,2 ∼ 0,8% Zn, 0,15 ∼ 0,5 Mn, in which the particles of titanium carbide were uniformly reinforced with a needle shapes. An armouring phase of particles consisted of titanium and aluminum. X-ray diffraction pattern has shown the clean peaks of titanium carbide. High mechanical strength and young' s modulus were obtained in the produced composite materials.
