Summary

This paper studies the method of preparation of a frame structure of SiC fibers by the whiskerization of polycrystalline fibers during their formation of hydrated cellulose precursor. Such structures can be easy used for preparation of composites by liquid phase techniques, e.g. sol-gel technology, impregnation of frames with liquid metals or melted ceramics. A frame-like fibrous structure allows a desired arrangement of the fiber within the bulk of a composite that is undergone mechanical or thermomechanical loading.
