Summary

A study was carried out on the self-reaction of a pure Ni electroless plating bath with N2H4 as a reductant and on the direct plating of Ni on ZrO2 powder particles. The Ni-coated composite powders were characterised by means of optical microscopy, SEM and XRD. The effects of solution composition and processing parameters on the plating rate, solution stability and coating structure were evaluated. Methods for further improving the coating are discussed.
