In this contribution an overview is given of the influence of various processing parameters, sintering parameters in particular, on the development of the microstructure of piezoceramic samples made of lead metaniobate PbNb2O6. Furthermore, the influence of the microstructure on the resulting piezoelectric properties of the material will be discussed briefly.
