Summary

In the present study, Mg-Zn-Al-Ca alloys having Zn:Al content ratio of 2:1 and containing 0.1 %Ca were produced by casting, and then the semi-solid forming was applied to the alloys for further improvement of mechanical properties. Evolution of microstructures during reheating at the semi-solid temperatures was evaluated and as a result, optimum semi-solid temperatures were determined. Furthermore, aging characteristics and mechanical properties of the alloys were evaluated.
