Summary

This study examines the microstructure of the sand cast alloy, and relates features of this to the experimentally determined bolt-load retention and creep behaviour at temperatures up to 177 °C. A similar series of tests was carried out on HPDC AZ91D for comparison. Preliminary findings are presented in this paper.
