Summary
Plastic deformation of hexagonal metals such as magnesium is strongly determined by the hexagonal crystal structure, and thus, substantially affected by crystallographic texture. For investigating the deformation behaviour of Mg-alloys plane-strain compression tests on a commercial magnesium alloy AZ31 were carried out at 100 °C and 200 °C. This temperature range was used to examine the deformation characteristics at elevated temperatures without interference of dynamic recrystallisation.
