Summary
Recently, magnesium alloys experience renaissance period in their application in automotive industries. The rationale behind this development is to improve fuel economy, therefore to lower the toxic emissions and consequently to cut on the air pollution.
There are still other fields of application in which magnesium use is on the rise. The two industries that can benefit from magnesium are aerospace and electronics.
In aerospace, the main advantage of magnesium is in the weight saving, where it is a candidate to replace aluminum. In the past (50's), magnesium was widely used as a structural material in airplane construction.
