Summary
The main portion of wheels (approx. 70%) used for the 2000 world championship are made of magnesium sandast alloy AZ91. Further 20% are carbon fibre compound wheels exclusively fitted on Aprilia motorcycles. Only 10% are forged magnesium wheels, however, the demand is increasing due to high weight saving potential compared to the sand cast version.
