Abstract

Human chromosome 10 (HC10) corresponds to about 4.2% of the total genome length. Eighty-five of the 754 protein coding genes mapped to HC10 are associated with more than 100 genetic diseases. Susceptibility loci for 17 common multifactorial diseases, such as Alzheimer disease, type 1 diabetes and schizophrenia map to HC10.
