Abstract

Current concepts for optical gas sensors are reviewed. Different approaches for gas sensing such as intrinsic and extrinsic, direct and indirect sensing were taken into consideration. For each sensing approach reviewed here, a short principle description and recent applications are given. Several aspects governing the enrichment of gaseous analytes in sensitive layers are also discussed briefly.
