Abstract

The British Ecological Society, established in 1913, is the oldest ecological society in the world. Its vision is to advance ecology and make it count. With a membership of about 4000 spread around the world, its core activities are the publication of the results of research in ecology, the development of scientific meetings, and the promotion of ecological awareness through education and policy initiatives.
