One way in which the term diversity is used in ecology is to characterize the evenness of the relative abundances of species (or other types) in a community (or other collection of organisms). A variety of measures that have been proposed for this purpose are reviewed.

  • relative abundance;
  • rarity;
  • Fisher's log series model;
  • Rao's decomposition of diversity;
  • predicting species number
