The International Biometric Society (IBS) plays a leading role in the advancement of biometry, biostatistics, and statistics at the international level by fostering the exchange of new ideas and relevant methodologies for a wide range of separate disciplines, including the important areas of environmental biology and ecology. This article briefly reviews the formation and structure of the IBS, and provides an historical record of its international leadership and editors of its journals Biometrics and JABES.
