This article discusses radon, the second leading cause of lung cancer after cigarette smoking. Statistical issues discussed include estimation of the form of the dose-response function relating lung cancer risk to radon exposure, the radiation dose that one might receive from a given level of radon exposure, and appropriate strategies for reduction of radon related risk.
