Geostatistical approaches to modeling spatiotemporal data rely on flexible space–time covariance models. The area has been in vigorous development recently, and we review constructions of nonseparable spatiotemporal covariance functions that are based on geometric anisotropy, Fourier inversion, completely monotone functions, and dynamic physical models.
