Abstract

Classical geostatistics involves statistical inference for random fields with a continuous spatial index based on geostatistical data, but the methods tend to be ad hoc. Alternatively, likelihood-based and Bayesian methods provide more efficient estimation of model parameters and more rigorous quantification of uncertainty in prediction of responses at unsampled locations.
