Three types of process models are described: physical models, conceptual models and mathematical models. The choice of a model depends on the available knowledge about the process, available data and the intended uses of the model. Two examples of process mathematical models are briefly described with one dealing with modeling sediment transport process in geomorphology while the other is concerned with modeling the changes in population number overtime.
