Abstract

Max-stable processes and fields are reviewed as natural models of spatial extremes. Their stochastic properties, extremal integral, and de Haan spectral representations are briefly discussed. A solution to the prediction problem for a large class of spectrally discrete max-linear models is presented and illustrated over a data set of rainfall extremes.
