Abstract

Loads monitoring can be defined as a structural usage substantiation activity. This activity involves the capture, analysis, and reporting of representative, directly measured strain data or derived loads and associated flight parameters from a sample of suitably instrumented in-service air vehicles within a fleet. The aim of this article is to describe the philosophy behind operational loads monitoring in aerospace structures, within the context of in-service structural health monitoring.
