Summary

Manufacturing methods are described for applying a boride coating of the base metal to thin titanium or stainless-steel substrates, to be tested as potential helicopter rotor blade leading-edge materials. Physical testing and sand and rain erosion test results by the manufacturer and helicopter companies are presented.
