Summary

An 8000 kW class Hybrid Gas Turbine (HGT) project was administered by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) of Japan. This project started in 1999 and completed in 2004. In this project, it was clear that silicon nitride material (SN282) showed significant recession under combustion gas. Three types of new EBCs were developed to suppress this recession under combustion gas. High pressure burner rig test (burner rig test) and actual HGT engine test were performed to evaluate these EBCs. In actual engine test, one of the EBCs showed slight defects. However, all EBCs showed high corrosion resistance and good adhesion in the burner rig test and actual engine test. It was confirmed that the all EBCs functioned effectively.
