Summary
Directionally induced texture through controlled shear processing of boron carbide is being investigated as a method of enhancing boron carbide's ballistic response. Texture was induced in boron carbide samples through hot pressing and tape casting. Texture analysis was conducted through optical microscopy techniques; Raman spectrometry studies were conducted on polished hot pressed samples. Texture was shown to be present in both tapes and hot pressed samples.
